About this deal
All the components are top-notch, with the controller’s main body made from metal. That means it’s solid but hefty. Very professional looking and friendly to use with all the functionality of equipment of more value. The two banks of dedicated effects can be assigned to each channel one at a time, this does stop us layering effects from the two banks but you can use the sweep effects on the mixer to add some more flair if you wish. Each bank controls 14 individual effects, which have been lifted straight from the X18000 mixer. One of the standout features of the DDJ-1000SRT is the fact that its jogwheels are similar in size and feel to those found on club-standard CDJs. That means they’re full-sized, eight-inch mechanical jogs, and not the capacitive / touch-activated type found on most controllers, and that includes the Prime 4, which have smaller six-inch jogwheels. The PRIME 4 supports a 2.5" SATA hard drive; either HDD or SSD. There is no drive capacity size limitation, just be sure the hard drive is formatted in one of the supported file system types; FAT32 or exFAT.This is typically caused by not properly (or safely) ejecting the drive from the computer. It is highly recommended to always safely eject any media device prior to using on Prime Series media players. If your installed HDD is still not recognized in standalone mode after safety ejecting, power off the PRIME 4 and restart. The XDJ-XZ will also support Serato DJ Pro. Although we do not have exact details at the time of writing this article as to how this will look, we’ll find out in January 2020. If we were to guess, with how many products Pioneer and Serato have developed together in the past, the XDJ-XZ will have great integration with Serato DJ Pro. Yes, channels 3 and 4 have switchable line/phono inputs that can be used to send your timecode signal through toSerato DJ Pro. I have been putting off for years upgrading my playout system as there was nothing from other brands that excited me or featured everything I needed has a professional mobile DJ.
Outputs are handled by balanced XLR for the Booth Out and Zone Out (more on zone outputs later). We have an unbalanced RCA and Balanced XLR output for the master with a Mono/Stereo switch. Headphone ports of both sizes are found on the front of the unit and you can control the volume, mix and even enable split cue from the mixer. The jogwheel display on the Prime 4 is more visually pleasing with its ability to show album artwork or custom artwork while the DDJ-1000SRT displays more pertinent information while mixing. WeightThis 4-channel all-in-one DJ controller has oodles of features, but the layout doesn’t make a DJ feel stressed or overloaded.
