Changes in the heel are cosmetic only. The 6 has the big Metcon M and a different texture, but the TPU heel clip and relatively low collar are still present. There’s no reason to believe the Nike Metcon 6 X is going to be any different than the regular Metcon 6. But a metcon workout doesn’t require such high intensity to be considered metcon. In short, both HIIT and Tabata workouts are considered metcons, but not all metcons are considered HIIT or Tabata.

Looking around the heel we can see that the collar is much higher on the Reebok. It’s also got a lot of padding. The Reebok feels bulkier because of this.

After testing these inserts a few times with the Metcon 5’s these weren’t something I ended up using as I didn’t notice much difference other than a looser heel fit. When we reviewed the Metcon 5 we loved the stability underfoot (especially when lifting weights) comfortable, wide fit, durability and general aesthetics of the shoe. Last but not least, here’s the real difference between the Nike Metcon 6 and Nike Metcon 5 – the upper is now very breathable thanks to the extra-large perforations. It’s stable and the split insole construction does provide a bit of responsiveness in the forefoot. This is pretty noticeable during repetitive bounding activities. There is a giant rabbit hole we could dive into here, but some basics to consider include your flexibility, the width of your feet, your foot arches, and your general proprioception. Wide feet obviously aren’t going to work well with a narrow shoe, but the other issues we’ve raised are more complex. The Nike Metcon 6 and Nike Metcon 7 both have similar price points. However, a lot of Nike Metcon 6 colorways have decreased in price since the Nike Metcon 7 was released. Nike shoes have a handsome design, I’ll give them that. You might not like all the colourways of the Metcon 6 but the general shape of the shoes is definitely appealing, especially for the target market. The Metcon 6 looks rugged yet exciting to the eye.
