This was bought for the 2 year old granddaughter. The six year old grandson immediately used Squigz pieces to transform the container onto an elaborate robot head. Both kids play with them.

For younger kids that is a perfect challenge. Older kids might want something more added in to their challenge. For older kids you can challenge them to build a bridge that will hold the most weight. I am using the Squigz to encourage the use of two-handed play. The nature of pulling the Squigz apart from one another utilizes both hands at the same time developing strength and coordination. This toy required focus and intention which were both in action during play. This adds a little cognitive element for younger kids (I used this with young preschoolers who were just learning their colors).

Connect them to each other in all kinds of crazy angles as well as to any solid, non-porous surface. Challenge kids to weave their toys in and out of the obstacles – great for visual motor integration! But in all honesty, it’s better to let your kids think up the ideas. My girls came up with the slapping game, and I would have never thought of it, but it even got to us drawing out point areas on the floor so you could score points and defend. This is a great chance to take a field trip to the library and learn not only about animals that use suction, but also how to find books, talk to librarians and use the library’s catalogue. Their bright colours are attractive and they are very tactile so I can see them appealing to people of all ages. They’re suitable from age 3 upwards and I can even imagine adults using them as stress relievers; they are very satisfying to play with.
Squigz can support cognitive development as children may engage with them in ways that interest them which may focus on scientific, mathematical or engineering elements. You can squish Squigz to almost any flat surface (a table, wall, window or bath for example) or to each other and the suction keeps them in place. My youngest was given a set of Squigz from her grandma for her birthday, and while I didn’t quite know what to do with them initially, I have since gained a keen liking to them.

Squigz is a fun tower project because of the limited resources, and also the limited shape types. This adds in an extra element to the tower building, as does the wiggly nature of the Squigz. This is easier than the suction cups that Squigz use because the liquid will conform and seal at the interface of the bottle. Squigz uses flexible silicon to do this job.
