About this deal

No amount of time will be enough with you. Not a minute. Not an hour. Not a decade. Not a century. But I promise to make all of our time count. I may not tell you I love you every minute of every day, but I try to show you—because true love has to be felt not heard. And our love, B? It’s my favorite feeling. Here’s to tomorrow, and the next day, and the one after that - and all the love that’s shared in between.” HOWEVER, this book wasn’t written properly. I feel like it had too much potential, but it fell flat. The characters were… they had no proper characterization. Every time the topic of mental health or struggles came up, it read like a self-help book. The dialogues, both in and out of such scenes, were dramatic, cringy, and just awkward. Also, this moved way too damn fast for what should be the appropriate pace for a book like this one; tell me why at like 10% she’s insinuating personal things to practical strangers??? It felt very incredibly unrealistic to me. Ten years later Finn is engaged to Layla’s sister, Ellen. Their shared grief over what happened to Layla drew them close and now they intend to remain together. Still, there’s something about Ellen that Finn has never fully understood. His heart wants to believe that she is the one for him…even though a sixth sense tells him not to trust her.

This psychological thriller will have you on the edge of your seat right up until the end of the book. You are drawn in from the start and completely hooked.I know I'm being vague, but I went into this story knowing NOTHING and you should too. Trust me, you do not want this story spoiled for you. This was the first book I've read by Micalea and it won't be my last. Just an incredible, amazing story. Thank you so much to St. Martin’s Press, NetGalley, and B. A. Paris for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Fast forward ten years, and Finn is now engaged to, of all people, Layla’s sister, Ellen. They bonded over their shared loss of Layla. That said, Finn does not fully trust Ellen. His intuition says something is not right. The possibility that Layla could be alive and nearby puts a huge strain on Ellen and Finns relationship. Ellen has been convinced for years that her sister must be dead, and Finn knows that she could be right. Well, maybe because I thought it was something very different, I was a bit disappointed to read a very predictable “second chance in happiness” novel. There was nothing very different or surprising about the plot; once I started to read it, it was very predictable from the beginning to the end. However, it was very-well written, so I read it despite its sad tone and predictability. Let me explain my reason of disappointment with the "timing of it" more clearly but don't read this if you are going to read the book or it will spoil it for you: A mediocre apology and we, like our main girl, just have to forget every single thing he said and move on.

the ending. I am sometimes willing to suspend disbelief but not here. I was surprised but not in a good way. I found it preposterous. Maybe I'm just burned out on the psychological thriller genre. Ellen alerts Finn to the fact that she found the smallest doll in a Russian doll set that had been missing since she was a girl. She found it on the ledge outside the door. The presence leaves her unsettled because no one knew of its significance except for Layla. When identical tiny dolls begin to show up in odd places, Finn and Ellen begin to question these events in earnest. Is it really Layla or is it someone who has a vendetta against the couple for unknown reasons? I was so close to marking this a dnf but I kept going even though I was struggling to want to read. Ellen is horrified when she finds something that would have no meaning to anyone but her, Layla and Finn. Then she thinks she spots Layla in a nearby town and Finn must question everything he knows about the past ten years.
