This December, Classic FM’s Orchestra in North-East England and at Sage Gateshead, Royal Northern Sinfonia offer up a classical festive feast, from Corelli’s ‘Christmas Concerto’ to Pärt’s Trisagion, plus brilliant music by Biber, Hildegard of Bingen, and Bach. Another wonderful tale of the exciting adventures of Gaspard, our urban fox friend, beautifully told and illustrated.The festive December period also sees the end of the religious festival of Hanukkah, and at 9pm on Monday 26 December Rabbi Dr Thomas Salamon presents a special programme to mark the occasion. Join Zeb at 9pm on Wednesday as he transports us to St Martin-in-the-Fields, where St Martin’s Voices perform a choral rendition of the Nativity story, with music by Britten, Rutter, and the premiere performance of Bob Chilcott’s ‘Mary Mother’. This December, a flute, harp, and cello trio bring a blend of classical and popular favourites to the Poole community, with free cake and hot drinks during intervals. From unmissable Christmas concerts to steadfast festive must-sees, the winter season is one of the greatest times of the year for excellent live music. Following on from the success of Gaspard’s Foxtrot, the RSNO’s National Schools Concert Programme, join Gaspard the Fox on a brand-new adventure with heart this Christmas. It was a tremendous privilege that Gaspard trusted us to the extent that she (as she revealed herself to be) led us to her den to meet her six cubs, whom she then proceeded to bring to us on her nightly visits.Zeb has recorded the first two books in the series as audiobooks, available on Audible — the orchestral concert recordings of books three and four form the audio versions of those stories, available on Apple Music and Spotify. The Voices of Classic FM, The Sixteen, take a choral Christmas on tour across the UK this winter season, from Gateshead to Saffron Walden. The third book in the Gaspard series was conceived to be a new concert work for orchestra with music by Jonathan Dove, in the tradition of Peter and the Wolf.
