Contains three hilarious adventures in one bumper book: Monster Birthday, Monster Contest and Monster Hero. The followers of the fabled story felt like a cult following and would do anything and hurt anyone to succeed in their goal. Bridging the worlds of paleontology, anthropology, medicine, and forensics, Skeleton Keys illuminates the complex life of bones inside our bodies and out. The plot of this one is pretty complicated (one of my complaints), but the basic premise is that there is a children's book (based on a real book the author loves as a child) that left clues for readers to find treasure in real life (in this case a tiny golden skeleton split up into sections), and people became obsessed with it, making its author and illustrator a very rich man.

You don’t have time for getting bored but you get exhausted after trying to absorb so much details about events and huge bunch of characters including their interesting back stories. Ten years on, Gnat and her sister Paige are the only humans left and have spent their lives hidden underground. With rich characterisation and intricate yet propulsive plotting, Kelly is at her considerable best as she mercilessly fillets monstrous egos and toxic relationships while ramping up the tension. But while he is off saving the world, the boys have to stay home because they don't have superpowers. Can Dinkin, and his friends, The Frightening Things, rid the world of the evil zombies before the whole planet is turned into mindless flesh-eating slaves.

The pace was rather on the slow side, which doesn’t have to be a problem, but I found it was in this case. Together with Princess Rainbow, Sheriff Explosion the sheep and the rest of the Defeat All Foes Team (DAFT), Frog assembles an army of boastful bragons to do battle with Frog's universe conquering father, King Kroak! Alex wakes up in the Casa de Oro and meets with Sarov, who says he had known all about the cave, and he promises to tell Alex what he plans to do with him. Who could not love and admire Nell for abandoning the claustrophobic craziness and striking out on her own?

Despite Alex's efforts to convince Prescott of the situation, Sarov recaptures Alex and Conrad kills the guard. Contains three hilarious adventures in one bumper book: Monster Boy, Monster Mischief and Monster Trouble. On the fictional island of Skeleton Key, off the coast of Cuba, three men meet and supply General Alexei Sarov with uranium. With the help of the Science Ray and a sample of Spynosaur’s DNA, Goldentoe transforms himself into Goldenclaw, a formidable half-man, half dinosaur.

Unfortunately, some among the treasure hunters were unable to tell reality from fantasy which led to stalking, attacks and drove his daughter, Nell, into a very private lifestyle. There are some good jaw descending with a thunk moments especially as you come to appreciate how Nell’s life has been tainted. When Dinkin sees his new neighbours, he's certain that the girl next door is in fact a flesh-eating alien space zombie! But the major issue with the book is its main character Nell who comes across as self-centered and self-righteous to a dislikable degree. Dinkin has made a big mistake - he's created an invention of such mind-boggling anti-everythingness that it's far too terrifying to use and must be destroyed at once.

But as Ben battles to save his new friend from Oblivion, the Gorblimey is soon the least of Skeleton Keys’ worries. The central theme to the book is friendship, one that all children will need to deal with at some point: Who should he trust? As dark secrets were revealed, and family dynamics became more and more dysfunctional, my fascination with these characters made me loath to put the book down. The next day, Sarov tells Alex about his son Vladamir, who was killed in the war in Afghanistan, and his plans to adopt Alex as he shares many traits with Vladamir, due to their similar physical appearance and personalities. The body was never found but the circumstances were suspicious, and as the pensioners begin to investigate the cold case becomes red hot. Anyway, all this has started up again as they've decided to make an app and create another treasure hunt, but on the date of the release, a real bone is found in the place that they've hidden the last golden bone from the previous skeleton (a pelvis). It’s the revelations about his actions that will influence the outcome of this story, and lead to a rather thought-provoking moment where the reader can try to decide which side of the fence they’d fall on. Full disclosure: I read this book as part of my work, and listened to the audio book at the same time.
