Check out this fantastic tutorial by The Lovely Drawer to see how you can easily create your own using marbled vinyl, copper wire, metallic washi tape, and a plain notebook. Use a few drops of Synthetic Gall and a little water to thin them to the consistency of whole milk in a paper cup or one of the Color Mixing Cups. Create "negative" areas in the design by placing soapy water or small droplets of Synthetic Gall on the surface with an eye dropper or by sprinkling it on.As you may have surmised by now, marbling can be a messy project, one which is best done with enough space to spread things out, and with lots of newspapers on hand. Once dry, you can remove crinkles by placing it between two tea towels and then pressing with a dry iron set on a very low heat. Lay the middle of the fabric down first and let the ends roll out onto the surface so no air is trapped underneath.Even kids as young as 3 can successfully use the kit, though an adult or older child should measure and mix in the carrageenan powder. These dyes, a little thicker than what you get in other marble paint sets, are quick drying—dry to the touch after only 15 minutes, and fully cured in roughly 24 hours.
