We learn he did unpleasantly consummate their marriage on their wedding night but it turns out he had more sadistic tastes. When She Unravels is a dark mafia romance that I thought was okay, but the potential is there, especially with the characters, our heroine, who I wish was much more developed.When we got to the last chapter and the overall subplot concerning the Mafia side of things was not concluded I knew we would be getting more books within this world (but with different couples). Maybe wanted something more, but overall was a good read, kept me interested, unlike some other books recently. She was forced to marry her father's best soldier and during the 2 months they were married he made her do horrific acts that will never leave her. vale is so incredibly strong and fierce and while there were a few times she irritated me i loved her nonetheless. I just had crap that needed to come out, and when the seed of an idea made its way into my mind, it wouldn’t get the hell out until I planted it into existence.

I didn't know what to expect before reading this book - I had never read anything by Gabrielle beforehand but I knew after reading the premise that when the oppurtunity came up to receive this ARC that I wanted to get my hands on it and surely enough I got the chance. Although I prefer slow burn in books but this book is an exception cuz who wouldn't be attracted to Damiano De Rossi? Alsooo the ins and outs of the mafia world were soo in depth like , Gabrielle are you in the Mafia 😅😅😅? the main reason i didn’t rate this higher, was because the relationship was very instalove and i really just don’t enjoy that. The writing is great, it's easy to get into, and I'd say I'm more interested in the side characters. we start with the heroine’s POV - this is so rare these days but really sets up the book to have a little tension. We meet him through the h’s POV around 15%… and their encounter builds a little tension, but it is IMMEDIATELY softened by his POV.I think if this author could get out of her own way with the PC stuff, we might have something here. Valentina is a mafia princess on the run from her abusive husband and mafia family, when she runs into our Hero Damiano’s territory. I was immediately sucked into Valentina’s plight and her strength and will to survive was something to behold. I know she was always going to understand why he behaved as he did but *I* didn’t forgive him for his treatment of her so it made it hard to root for him. I wanted the author to allow a little more give in the PC stuff so that the H could be more aggressive and intense.
