Description

Dosing rate is based on the total volume of water in the pond/container pond, not the volume of water being added. This is because the tap water is very likely to be at a higher or lower temperature than the pond water so will initially form a "layer" either at the top or bottom of the pond. If only a small amount of Chlorine Guard is added this will sit within the existing pond water zone and will be neutralised before the added tap water mixes with the existing pond water. If Chlorine Guard is dosed based on the volume of water in the pond this will be sufficient to treat both the existing and added water. One 250ml bottle will treat ponds up to 4500 litres (1000 gallons) during a Summer - allowing for 5 top ups. Add the Chlorine Guard from the small 10ml measuring chamber near where the new water is entering the pond or container so that it is well mixed in.

Using this Tap Water treatment is ideal when filling a pond after a water change, following evaporation or filling a new pond. The added Aloe vera extract adds a protective coating to protect fish. This is caused by algae; it can be a problem if tadpoles are in the pond as the water becomes deoxygenated. The tap water used to fill the pond is a major source. Phosphates are not only found in the rivers used for water supplies, but in the past twenty years phosphates have been deliberately added to tap water to reduce pipe corrosion**. SENAGUA. [ Google Scholar] Some comes from the soil in planting containers, but commercial aquatic soils do not contain high amounts. Aquatic fertilisers are generally only needed for waterlilies to help them to flower better. Usually such fertilisers incorporate slow release phosphate applied in pellets close to the roots, to limit any leaching into the pondwater. [ Google Scholar] [ CrossRef] The easiest way to drain the pond is to use a pump, which can be rented for the day from a machinery hire shop As chlorine is a gas component, some people advise leaving the tap water separate from your pond to evaporate chlorine into the air. Although this is definitely the cheaper option for dechlorinating tap water, this process is slow and not always as effective as taking extra measures to remove the water’s chlorine. Using A Pond Treatment Dechlorinator

Have sufficient pond plants. As well as being decorative and encouraging wildlife, pond plants such as waterlilies, submerged plants, floating plants, irises and other marginal plants can all use up the phosphates in the water and help the pond to reach a better balance. Remove old and damaged leaves as the season continues. Remove dosage chamber cap and foil seal, squeeze bottle until chamber is filled to the required level. Plants add valuable habitats for wildlife and enhance the beauty of a pond – keep them looking their best with these simple steps.Virdis, S.G.P.; Xue, W.; Winijkul, E.; Nitivattananon, V.; Punpukdee, P.
