The image from this lens does not change size as focused, which is excellent — but I have no idea how you'd follow focus with this lens. The Nikon Z DX 50-250mm F4.5-6.3 VR produces quite nice sunstars when set to 50mm and stopped-down to f/22 or greater, as shown below. Flare is well controlled even when shooting directly into the sun without a lens hood fitted. Macro It features 16 elements in 12 groups, including one extra-low dispersion element to help limit spherical aberrations and distortion, while the Super Integrated Coating suppresses flare and ghosting. With a 7-bladed rounded diaphragm I can't get much in the way of sunstars. The best I can get is is some soft stars at the smallest aperture. This 50-250mm lens used on a DX camera sees the same angle of view as a 75~375mm lens sees when used on a full-frame or 35mm camera. I am afraid that lens is less likely to happen in the near future with the release of the 40-150 f4 since a 50-250 f4 would undoubtably reduce sales of the 40-150 f4.
