Description

As with most sonic toothbrushes, this model is very quiet, at just 71.2dB. That’s loud enough that you can hear it, but the high-pitched buzz isn’t distracting or annoying. Why buy the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100? There is an attention to detail and the small touches with the ProtectiveClean range and it is these small touches that take something good and make it great. There's also a pressure sensor to warn you if you're pressing too hard with the brush, plus three brushing intensity levels and four modes. Why the new or different names for the same mode? Your guess is as good as mine! Which modes should you opt for? The brush head replacement light and battery light will also blink green 3 times in unison to confirm activation.

For example, the W2 Optimal White brush head will deliver the best results when used on the White/White+ cleaning mode. If the brush handle has Bluetooth connectivity and is connected to a smartphone the mode will last for just 2 minutes. If there is no active Bluetooth connection, the mode will run for the longer 3 minutes. The vast majority of Sonicare models offer 31,000 brush strokes and 62,000 movements. There are some exceptions to this though. 31,000 brush strokes/62,000 movementsThe 4300 comes with 1 x C2 Optimal Plaque Defence brush head compared to the 2 x W2 Optimal White brush heads with the 6100. All Sonicare DailyClean brushes are supplied with one brush head and last up to two weeks on a single charge, but only the DailyClean 3100 has a light to indicate the current battery status, which is a very useful feature. The 1100 and 1200 may be cheaper, but we think it's worth paying a little extra for the battery indicator so your brush doesn't run flat. Some models refer to this mode as just Deep Clean, whilst on others, it is labelled as Deep Clean+. It is the same cleaning action, just with a different name. These prices do exclude the cost of water, toothpaste and electric to charge it, as well as a few assumptions and rough calculations, but you get a rough idea. Sonicare technology is based on the unique movement (disclosed in the famous original Sonicare patent) thanks to an optimal combination of highfrequency and high amplitude.

The UK electric toothbrush market tends to operate on a policy of very high recommended retail prices, but in reality, sell at significantly lower prices anywhere between 20-60% less. It should be noted that some Sonicare models have the option to change the intensity of the brushing motion. The Easy-start feature gently increases the power over the first 14 brushings to help you get used to the brushing with the Philips Sonicare toothbrush. Our experience with the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 was nothing but pleasant. Brushing performance is excellent, and the sonic vibrations do a great job cleaning your teeth and leaving you with a fresh-feeling gob. Testing on myself, the lightweight brush was easy to manoeuvre, and the sonic vibrations did a good job cleaning my teeth and leaving me with a fresh mouth. On inspection, my teeth were impeccably cleaned. The intensity setting is great to have, letting you to adjust the power for more sensitive areas. For most people the ProtectiveClean 4300 goes above and beyond what is core to a good electric toothbrush, but those additions are welcomed, making for a better experience. Bychanging either the amplitude or the frequency; or varying one or both of them during the brushing cycle, the different cleaning/brushing modes are achieved. E.g. Gentle/Sensitive modes will operate at a lower amplitude than Clean mode. Brushing intensity
