About this deal

But hear me out: I only just graduated college, during which most of my dishes were selected for their ease and speed.

Even as a ricing novice, I don’t think I’ll ever need to upgrade from this durable device — the removable cup is even made of stainless steel, so I’m confident it’ll last, especially if I hand wash everything. Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy and Cookie Statement and Your California Privacy Rights. As opposed to the traditional potato masher that requires way more force and time, this tool works like a garlic press — you pop the boiled potato pieces into the cup after lifting up the white press piece (I’m sure there’s a better name for that). The notch at the end made it possible to anchor the ricer against the mixing bowl, and the stainless steel body was heavy duty enough to crush its contents even when overfilled. Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page.Lucky for me, the Chef’n Potato Ricer combines both of these interests, and made my first time making “real” mashed potatoes all by myself a breeze, with very little arm strength required.

Use it to make shepherd’s pie, pierogis, colcannon, potato croquettes, mashed potatoes and more – the results are so creamy you can forgo butter and milk. Overall I am happy, however, the injection point from moulding is ground/cut off and leaves a mark on the black plastic. If you overwork those starches, they essentially turn into glue, gumming up and creating an unpleasant mouthfeel. Banish lumps and make perfect mashed potatoes without hand cramps, using the FreshForce Potato Ricer. This cheese-wedge shape is still a favourite of professional chefs as it holds more than others of the size, and the shape stands up to heavy pressing and banging around. Though the ricer is small in size, the pressing plate holes are large enough to create light, fluffy purées – even fibrous parsnip was smooth.

It also cleans like a dream, but you do need to clean it straight away rather than leaving it overnight I think. The finest hole size produces a smooth mash that gets you pretty darn close to a purée, if you’re aiming for creamy mashed potatoes with minimal texture. With a ricer, the ingredient is added to a chamber, and the hinge is closed to feed the ingredient through the pressing plate. Potato ricers get can become messy and difficult to clean, so look for those that come apart, or at least are dishwasher proof (most are). As the ricer comes under a lot of pressure, it needs to be robust and sturdy to stand up to the rigours of pressing and cleaning. For people who have grip issues, this might be a preferable choice, but overall, the mechanism was far less efficient than the conventional design.

The knob or rest allows you to set the ricer on a pot or bowl while reloading it to make the process easier and create less of a mess. Logic would say metal would be better, but after browsing through a lot of reviews it was a simple choice of the Chef'n Force over the other model available on this site. Please note: Stoneware, glass and electrical items can only be delivered to UK addresses (including UK Offshore). In fact, it is 65% more efficient than conventional potato pressers / ricers, so put down the masher and pick up the FreshForce potato ricer. In its product description, the FreshForce Potato Ricer claims to be up to 65 percent more efficient than other conventional potato presses and ricers. There's a wide range out there, from the classic French wedge-shaped ricer to those with gears and cogs. Like a garlic press, the smashing action of a ricer is controlled by two long handles that are manually forced together.
