In The Power of One, Lawrence III sought a Moltres, the other two Legendary birds, and their master Lugia for his own personal collection. A legendary bird Pokémon known as the "fire bird." Every time it flaps, its wings flare and burn brightly. Moltres • Munchlax • Onix • Oshawott • Palkia • Piplup • Porygon2 • Pyukumuku • Raikou • Scizor • Snivy Moltres is a legendary bird Pokémon that can control fire. If injured, it is said to dip its body in the molten magma of a volcano to burn and heal itself. In Japanese, Flareon has the category ほのおポケモン Honō Pokémon (Flame Pokémon), while the other four Pokémon share the category かえんポケモン Kaen Pokémon (Flame Pokémon).

In Galar, Moltres has a dual-type Dark/ Flying regional form that was introduced in The Crown Tundra expansion of the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass. Neither Kantonian Moltres nor Galarian Moltres are known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon. Moltres is one of several Pokémon that have Region Forms. If caught in Galar, it will have its Galarian Form It’s one of the legendary bird Pokémon. When Moltres flaps its flaming wings, they glimmer with a dazzling red glow. Galarian Moltres debuted in HZ022. Liko, Roy, Captain Pikachu, Zirc, and Onia encountered and battled it in the Galar Mine, but were forced to run away due to its immense power. It is holding an ancient Poké Ball and is one of the Six Heroes.

In Generations I, III, and VII, a Trainer at the Cinnabar Gym mentions that Blaine became a Fire-type expert after seeing a Moltres. If Miracle Eye is used by an opponent or this Pokémon is given a Ring Target, the effectiveness of Psychic-type moves is 1×. Italic indicates a move that gets STAB only when used by an evolution or an alternate form of Moltres

Moltres, the Flame Pokémon. A Fire and Flying type. When injured, Moltres enters the lava of a volcano, and its fiery temperature helps heal its wounds. They say when Moltres appears, it brings spring with it. A strong wind blows away the target's barriers such as Reflect or Light Screen. This also lowers the target's evasiveness. The sinister aura that blazes like molten fire around this Pokémon is what inspired the name Moltres.

NA: This Fire/Flying-type Pokémon is one of three Legendary birds in the Kanto region. It will use Fly when called into a Smash Bros. battle, flapping its orange wings and sending fire out around it. Getting hit hurts and could launch you so far, you'd make Moltres jealous. That isn't a good thing... The user copies the target's last move. The move can be used during battle until the Pokémon is switched out. It may also derive from molt.
